I’m a Kansas girl, through and through. Our state flower is the sunflower and I love this summery bloom! After all, who doesn’t like a bright and sunny yellow flower. Plus, I grew up eating sunflower seeds from the shell, so I feel a special affection for these beautiful and delicious flowers.

Fall is a special event here in the Midwest! We love our pumpkin patches, sweet corn stands, fall foliage, corn mazes and the state fair. But that’s not all. In August and September, one of the other big activities to do is to go to a sunflower field and take selfies.

This photo was taken at one of these sunflower fields when my Mom and I decided to go on a special excursion to get photos. The day was bright and hot, but the acres of plants were lovely.
